Classroom Scavenger Hunt
A classroom hunt works best when movement has a clear purpose and every station can be completed without crowding.
Plan the traffic flow
Spread stations around the room and assign groups different starting points. Use a direction arrow or numbered route when students might cluster. Keep bags and chairs out of walkways.
First-day classroom prompts
- Find where finished work is submitted.
- Locate the class calendar.
- Find an emergency procedure.
- Identify where extra pencils are kept.
- Find a book you may want to read.
- Locate the classroom rules.
- Find one thing you have in common with a partner.
Turn review into movement
Place a question at each station and require students to record an answer before moving. Mix easy recall with one or two application questions so the hunt reveals what needs review.
Close the activity well
Review answers together, clarify routines, and ask students which station was most useful. Collect sheets only when the answers are needed for assessment.
